Food Bank Donations
Please consider donating food items for the Hawkwood School Food Drive in support of the Calgary Food Bank. Mrs. Mason's class set a goal to bring in 50 items of food. We have 11 items to date. (We understand that families have different charities that they support, and that some families have already made donations to the Food Bank. If you feel that you can donate some food, please send it to school with you child.)
Last week we focused on the following:
Math:
- two and three digit addition
Literacy:
- worked with Mrs. Wajda on nouns, verbs and adjectives
- we have learned to write a, d, g, q, and c in cursive writing
- continued to read Poppy by Avi
- wrote from different points of view
Science:
- animal conservation
- opinion writing: pros and cons of zoos
Social Studies:
- the United Nations
Art Appreciation:
- endangered animal art
Coming Up This Week:
Math - writing and solving problems with 3-digit numbers (addition)
Literacy - continue working with Mrs. Wajda on sentence building
Science - recipe for an animal's favourite food
Social Studies - Global Citizenship - Caring for the Earth
