Here are a few highlights of the past week:
- Literacy: Owls in the Family (Chapters 8 and 9) and related writing; Kahoot questions; Epic books
- Math: Measuring in cm and rounding numbers to the nearest ten and hundred
(Mrs. Harms visited our class to assist with introducing the concept of rounding.)
- School-wide interactive math task
- Science: Categorizing research questions; selecting an animal to research; "City Dog, Country Frog" book and journal page
- Art: Sketching techniques (e.g. hatching, cross-hatching, blending, rendering)
- Sketching an owl (two attempts) and applying sketching techniques
- Bison art with coffee grounds
Next week:
- Literacy: Owls in the Family wrap-up; plot line and story map
- Math: Mrs. Harms will visit on Monday and we will continue to practice rounding; further work on measuring; addition strategies
- Science: Life Cycles; begin research; mealworm observation
- Social Studies: What I Value and how it Shapes My Identity
- Art: Final copy of sketched owl
